Soyga Studio is led by Gabriela Sojkova. A multidisciplinary transformative designer originally from Prague, CZ, now living in The Netherlands.

My drive as a designer has always been led by my fascination with the living. The simple and complex moments of human, floral, fungal, animal and microbial behaviour seep through a lot of my thoughts and activities. In my practice I focus on problem driven solutions, through careful observation, interaction, research and care.

In recent years we have seen a growing global consciousness regarding environmental sustainability and multi-species awareness. This shift reflects a broader recognition of our interconnectedness and dependency on the living world surrounding us and a commitment to creating a more harmonious and sustainable future for all living beings on our planet.
However, as much as this process has begun, we still have a long way to go. I believe my work can contribute to the grassroots communal and local activities with its experimental approach and innovative vision.

Collaborations need empowerment and our fellow species need recognition and understanding. As a transformation designer I feel a responsibility towards creating a collectively shared and regenerative future. My approach to design is mostly driven by the desire to research solutions that not only address current social and environmental challenges but also aim to harmonise and balance our daily lives, fostering an empathetic relationship between humans, our local environment and other species. By utilising our embedded (commonly cursed) anthropocentrism I aim to challenge the seeming predetermined pathways. What I mean is – we need to understand how much control we actually have. Giving up our agency is the death of nature.

Since my childhood I have always been an observer. This point is where I begin within my process, subsequently I use research tools such as prototyping, experiments and interventions.
One day you will see me organising workshops and events, the next making artwork with recycled materials or developing a new material with the help of bacteria, yeast or fungi.

My goal will always be a sustainable product or service, and that is either socially, environmentally or economically.
